Turbonomic, the leader in Application Resource Management, today announced that it has become a founding member of the Parity.org ParityPledge® in Support of People of Color. Parity.org is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization focused on bringing gender and racial equality to the highest levels of business, calling for “Equal Representation. Now.” The ParityPledge in Support of People of Color asks companies to commit to interview at least one qualified person of color for every open leadership role, VP and higher, including the C-suite and Board of Directors.

“We are so pleased to have Turbonomic join us in their commitment as a founding member of this pledge. Our original ParityPledge was created to close the gender gap in business, and we have always believed that equal representation of all groups was key to achieving that. But it’s clear that we can, and must, do more for communities of color,” said Cathrin Stickney, Parity.org founder and CEO. “I hope that by bringing this simple pledge to the forefront, more companies will be open to changing how they recruit and hire underrepresented executives, because we need people of color at the table and in decision-making roles.”

This announcement comes on the heels of last month’s commitment by Turbonomic to create equal opportunity for women in leadership positions. Becoming a founding member of the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color is a powerful and necessary extension of this prior promise. Other founding members include industry leaders such as Adobe, Overstock, AthenaHealth, and Survey Monkey.

“Turbonomic understands the role that companies play in moving the needle on racial equality and justice,” said Brent Wilkinson, Chief People Officer at Turbonomic. “As an organization, we have a responsibility to our stakeholders – including investors, employees, customers, and partners – to use our platform to drive positive change starting at the top of our organization. We are incredibly proud to be founding members of the ParityPledge in Support of People of Color, and I hope other companies will consider signing to show their commitment to action.”

Industry evidence overwhelmingly supports the value of investing in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). McKinsey & Company reported that companies who have more racial and ethnic diversity are more innovative and 35% more likely to have financial returns above the industry median. Boston Consulting Group found that companies who reported above-average diversity on their management teams also reported innovation revenue that was 19 percentage points higher than that of companies with below-average leadership diversity. Not only does investing in DEI produce strong financial results, but it also enhances an organization’s ability to recruit and retain top talent, improve decision making and group performance, and earn a premium on innovation, according to a recent Catalyst report.
