Unisyn Director of Infrastructure Policy & Product Development Brian Hancock was elected as 2020 Chair of the SCC Executive Committee at their recent meeting held in Washington, D.C. on January 30, 2020. In addition, Mr. Hancock and other SCC members later joined partners from the Government Coordinating Council (GCC), State and local election offices and other Federal agencies in an Executive Elections Tabletop Exercise.
The mission of the SCC is to advance the physical security, cybersecurity, and emergency preparedness of the nation’s election infrastructure, in accordance with existing U.S. laws. This mission will be accomplished through voluntary actions of the infrastructure owners and operators represented in the SCC, as set forth in Presidential Policy Directive/PPD-21 and related authorities. The SCC consists of more than thirty companies and organizations responsible for providing key components to the security of elections, including public policy initiatives, vote tabulation, voter registration, electronic poll books, election night results reporting, ballot printing and online balloting.
With the 2020 Presidential election season upon us, the SCC continues to prioritize communications, information sharing and training to help prepare for the upcoming election. Mr. Hancock stated that “SCC membership is excited to continue working with CISA and our partners on the GCC to do everything possible to provide protection and resilience for the 2020 election.”
