Many assume that attending online public schools like WIVA and WIDCA
means that students miss out on the ‘real’ high school experiences, but
this in-person graduation proves quite the opposite.

This year, WIVA and WIDCA will graduate almost 207 students, over 7%
more than 2018, with more than 50 students graduating with honors.

Collectively, the class reports having been offered over $410,000 in
scholarships and being accepted to colleges and universities across the
country, including: Marquette, St. Augustine, UW Whitewater, UW Stevens
Point, and Southern Illinois University.

“WIVA and WIDCA’s Class of 2019 has shown the determination in their
education that will serve them well in college and beyond,” said
Wisconsin State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac),
Education Committee chair, and keynote speaker for the graduation
ceremony. “Like most kids, they have struggled, and they have succeeded,
but it is these life lessons that will set them up for success as they
begin the next chapter of their lives.”

Valedictorian’s will be Caleb Beck for WIVA and Savannah Klimpke for
WIDCA. Salutatorian’s are Erin Hutchens, Anna Perryman, James Rausch for
WIVA and Savana Strean for WIDCA. All students, as well as Nicholas
Sutherland, Head of School, will be available for media interviews.

Students enroll in virtual school for a number of reasons, including
those looking to escape bullying, some who may have fallen academically
off track, or those looking for an alternative to the traditional
brick-and-mortar classroom setting. WIVA and WIDCA students access a
robust online curriculum in the core subjects and a host of electives
and attend live virtual classes taught by state-licensed teachers.
