Akhter looks to government contracts for growth

Security company Akhter Computers has beefed up its partnership  with Becrypt as the government services market opens up.

Akhter has become a gold certification partner status with Becrypt in a bid to improve  security offerings as it pushes into the government services market.

Akhter has been working successfully in the defence industry and seeks new business opportunities across Central Government including the NHS, education and the emergency services.

The Becrypt certification makes Akhter an official End Point Protection (EPP) Service Delivery Partner and will mean that it can provide encryption expertise to public sector organisations.

Akhter has been a partner of Becrypt since 2006, and one of the few companies in the UK to achieve List-X Central Government Information Supplier status
.
This is in recognition of its stringent approach to in-house security and ability to provide world-class security technologies.

Particularly important is Becrypt’s DISK Protect Baseline and DISK Protect Enhanced which are CESG certified to protect information up to Impact Level 6 (TOP SECRET), the only software based encryption to be approved at this high level.

John Oakley, Group Sales and Projects Director at Akhter said that the Becrypt status boosts the company’s credibility within the industry.

It will mean that Akhter will have the kudos needed to sell a broader range of products and expand our reach into other government departments.

Bernard Parsons, CEO of Becrypt said that now that the Government has stated that it is keen to work with more SMEs. Becrypt is committed to supporting this initiative through its channel partners.

Smaller organisations, such as Becrypt and Akhter, can provide respond more quickly to industry demands.
“With the ever increasing threat of cyber crime many more organisations are recognising the benefit of utilising the type of robust security solutions that used to be the preserve of military and government departments,” he said.
