Aviso Retention, a student retention solution that helps colleges and universities keep students engaged, optimize student success and increase retention, today announces 30% growth in 2020 and several new institutions to its customer base.

In 2020, higher education institutions were forced to transition to a virtual format, creating less opportunity to connect with students to identify their needs and ensure student retention amidst unexpected circumstances. A recent Census survey announced that 16 million Americans have cancelled their higher education plans due to COVID-19. Understanding that attrition rates increase as a result of low commitment, low grades and low satisfaction, higher education institutions like community colleges turned to Aviso Retention to target these factors and ensure students stay on-track with their higher education journey despite the changing landscape.

Aviso Retention has the ability to make a difference in student success and retention by using a combination of artificial intelligence and human intelligence to help institutions understand students’ needs, provide individual support and assist each student as they work towards their educational goals and degree completion. Institutions across the nation have selected Aviso Retention to support their student success goals. Some of the institutions who joined Aviso in 2020 include Blue Ridge Community College, Central Piedmont Community College, College of the St. Mary, Craven Community College, Linn Benton Community College, Rockingham Community College, Terra State Community College, Vance Granville Community College and Vernon College.

“Addressing student retention and course completion is always at the forefront of our focus,” said Ron Schumacher, President of Terra State Community College. “Aviso Retention gives us the ability to see what obstacles stand in the way of student success and effectively knock those down one by one, allowing for a clear path to student success. With our partnership, we are able to better understand and support our students whether in-person or virtually on their journey to degree-completion.”

As this year challenged institutions and students alike, Aviso Retention provided unparalleled support to higher education institutions, including hosting its Aviso Virtual User Summit, where innovative strategies to improve student retention, student engagement and degree completion were shared and discussed, along with higher education trends, insights and new capabilities through Aviso Retention. This user summit welcomed speakers from both two-year and four-year institutions that utilize Aviso Retention to increase student retention and student success, including Walter Dalton, President, Isothermal Community College, Jairo McMican, Dean of Student Learning, Central Carolina Community College and Glenna Heckler-Todt, Director of Advising and Academic Resources, Shawnee State University.

The Aviso Virtual User Summit also announced Central Carolina Community College as the winner of its Aviso Aspire Award for 2020, which recognizes and celebrates innovation and impact in the field of academic advising, in the advancement of student success, and within the communities they serve.

“2020 has challenged us, but also has shown the grit, dedication and passion the Aviso Retention team has for student success,” said Alex Leader, CEO and founder of Aviso Retention. “As we continue to achieve our goals, provide support to higher education institutions and grow our client base, our team makes a promise: that despite what 2021 looks like, we’re a team working together to achieve student success.”

This announcement comes on the heels of Aviso Retention’s recent First In The World research study, in partnership with DVP-Praxis, JFF and Carolina Works, to uncover the impacts of success coaching in higher education institutions. As 2020 closes, Aviso Retention plans to continue its advancements in an effort to assist underserved higher education institutions, help close the equity gap, and ensure student success in 2021, including their Minority Male Success Initiative (MMSI) research in partnership with the North Carolina Community College System. This three year study kicked-off in December 2019 and will report the first year of results in February 2021. For more information, visit https://www.avisoretention.com/.
