Clearspan, a leading cloud communications and collaboration technology provider, today announced two new executive appointments following its recent divestment from Mitel. The appointments continue to solidify the team tasked with achieving the company’s growth plans and aggressive innovation agenda.

Chris Boulton, an industry expert with over 20 years of experience in VoIP and unified communications technologies, has been appointed Clearspan’s Chief Technology Officer. Boulton is responsible for the company’s technical direction and innovation agenda. Throughout his career, Boulton has made significant industry contributions, actively participating in the Internet Engineering Task Force and the Java Community Process Program, publishing numerous standards, and authoring various technical whitepapers and books.

John Dumbleton, an industry veteran with 30 years of marketing, sales, product development, channel development, and corporate development experience, will serve as Clearspan’s Chief Marketing Officer. Dumbleton is responsible for all marketing and product related strategies and initiatives. Prior to Clearspan, Dumbleton held executive leadership roles at Masergy, McCleodUSA, and Allegiance Telecom.

“As a newly independent company born during the global pandemic, Clearspan is uniquely positioned to empower large organizations and service providers with ubiquitous communications and collaboration solutions that fundamentally change the way work gets done,” says Clearspan CEO Bill Crank. “We are excited to have Chris and John join the Clearspan team to help us accelerate growth and innovation.”

Bob Harvatin, who led Clearspan’s Operations under Mitel since 2014, has assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer, overseeing operations, engineering, provisioning, and support. Additionally, David Chambers, Clearspan’s original architect with over 35 years of tenure, has assumed the role of Chief Service Architect, working closely with Boulton to accelerate the company’s innovation agenda.

“Building the right executive team was a key milestone as an independent company,” says Crank. “Over the past four decades, Clearspan has built a reputation of innovation, delivering mission critical communication solutions and partnering closely with our customers. This team has the talent, experience, and passion required to build upon and expand that culture of excellence in the future.”
