Consortium of Major Producers Gather With Alberta IoT Companies to Spark Innovation and Collaboration

On February 13, 2020, hundreds of local IoT enthusiasts who research, design, implement, or service Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions will join key players and decision makers in the Oil & Gas industry at Hotel Arts in Calgary for an exciting opportunity to hear real problem statements and spark discussion around potential collaborative projects.

The Alberta IoT Association is proud to partner with TECTERRA and Rogers Communications to bring the Oil & Gas Community together in conjunction with the IoT in Oil and Gas Canada event to spawn one or more ecosystem building projects.

Dignitaries from all levels of government, media, numerous organizations, and the general public are all invited to come learn about the use of IoT technology in the Oil and Gas industry, and network with our member companies.

Master of Ceremonies and Executive Director of Alberta IoT, Brenda Beckedorf, will give a brief presentation on the Association’s goals, membership, and upcoming events.

Richard Gorecki, Director of Portfolio Development at TECTERRA, will speak briefly on the innovation support center’s investments in product development and commercialization to decrease the time it takes for Canadian geospatial technology companies achieve commercial success.

Marc Godin, Director of Technology at PTAC’s Consortium of Digital Innovation and Transformation (CDIT), will share some information on the organization comprised of 8 major energy companies (Husky, Suncor, Syncrude, Imperial Oil, CNRL, TC Energy, Chevon, and ATCO) that have agreed to work together to identify and solve a number of common digital innovation challenges.

Keynote speaker Stan Tumoth is the Damage Prevention Program Manager at TC Energy. Working within TC Energy’s Pipeline Integrity Department, Stan is accountable for ensuring the protection of the pipeline system from the threat of mechanical damages as stipulated by federal regulation in Canada, U.S.A and Mexico.

The Alberta IoT Association is a not-for-profit consisting of organizations with a vested interest in the success of the Internet of Things in the province of Alberta. Since our official launch event in February 2019, Alberta IoT membership has grown to more than 100 companies and individuals, collaborated with numerous organizations on a variety of initiatives, and gained support from all levels of government.
