EdLogics, an innovator in game-based learning dedicated to improving health literacy, today appointed Robert W. Oberrender to its Board of Advisors as its Healthcare Strategy and Financial Advisor. Oberrender brings with him an extensive background in corporate finance, capital markets and investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning, along with a deep appreciation for EdLogics and its unique position within the healthcare industry.

“Throughout my career, I’ve seen the impact that low health literacy can have on the utilization of our healthcare system and its related costs. The EdLogics Platform is emerging as a disruptor of the status quo,” said Oberrender. “It’s very clear that the healthcare industry needs new and innovative solutions to the problems that we face and improving health literacy is increasingly being recognized as a key factor influencing health outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. I look forward to working with the EdLogics leadership team to grow, expand their capabilities, and bring unique value to their clients and strategic partners.”

In September of 2018, Oberrender retired as the Chief Investment Officer and Treasurer of UnitedHealth Group (UNH), where he built and had responsibility for UNH’s investment management, treasury, capital markets, real estate, and risk management teams. Oberrender serves as a Director of Optum Bank, the United States Tennis Association Foundation, InnerCity Tennis Foundation, and serves on the Board of Trustees of The Hill School. Oberrender received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Hamilton College and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business. He resides in Minneapolis with his wife, Jane; they have three adult sons.

“We are thrilled to be adding Bob to our Board of Advisors and leveraging his experience and expertise to expand our strategic relationships with healthcare organizations and position the organization for success. There are few people in the industry who can equal his deep background in corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and the financial markets,” says Thomas M. Chamberlain, PharmD, Founder and CEO of EdLogics. “Bob will be integral to our strategic planning and corporate growth strategy.”

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Bob to EdLogics where he will undoubtedly make an immediate impact as we expand our strategic relationships and begin evaluating our exit opportunities,” said Tommy G. Thompson, Chairman of EdLogics and Former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. “Bob will help us evaluate the many opportunities available to us and ensure that we make the best decisions possible for our employees and shareholders.”

“I can’t imagine a more exciting time to join EdLogics,” Oberrender said. “EdLogics is a leading innovator in game-based learning and is transforming the way consumers learn about health. When consumers begin to better understand how to manage their health, we can begin to see better health outcomes and reduce the cost of health care. The EdLogics leadership team recognizes and appreciates the importance of improving health literacy and empowering consumers to make better health care decisions, and I’m delighted to be a part of it.”
