“Semtech’s BlueRiver technology offers an ideal backbone to develop flexible Pro AV solutions. Aurora’s IPX transceiver series leverages BlueRiver’s flexibility to offer ultra-low latency 4K content that scales and adapts for even the most complex video wall applications,” said Paul Harris, CEO of Aurora. “With next-generation SDVoE capabilities, we created a solution with near-zero frame latency that meets the high resolution and frame rate demands of fast-paced, UHD gaming.”
HU, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, is a member of the National Association of Collegiate eSports and fields a world-class varsity team. To accommodate the team’s needs, HU created a 2,300-square-foot training facility for players to practice competitive gaming, but required an integrated AV system that could handle the many high-resolution framerates of simultaneous gameplay and offer near-zero latency. An SDVoE-enabled AV-over-IP solution was chosen based on Aurora’s IPX series of BlueRiver-based 10 Gbps 4K transceivers to fulfill all of the system’s unique AV distribution requirements. The transceiver design enables device configuration as encoders or decoders, simplifying setup and management. Integrated video wall processing, scaling and routing, plus Dante™ digital audio options support gaming stations. Power over Ethernet (PoE) for network devices and IPX’s IPBaseT® software for device control further enable the distribution of seamless, pixel-perfect AV data to the system’s large video wall. The resulting system allows multiple players to influence AV data on the video wall in real time without affecting latency, frame rate or resolution.
“Aurora’s IPX transceiver line provides a great example of how BlueRiver-based SDVoE solutions are able to meet the demands of today’s complex AV use cases,” said Don Shaver, Vice President of Video Products for Semtech’s Signal Integrity Products Group. “BlueRiver is particularly well suited to the demands of eSports, where the high resolution and frame rates of fast-paced graphics-intensive gaming must be transported at zero-frame latency.”
About Semtech’s BlueRiver®
Semtech’s BlueRiver® technology, brings the disruptive power of Ethernet to AV signal distribution, forever changing the dynamics of the Pro AV industry by allowing installers and OEMs to replace proprietary AV matrix switches with off-the-shelf Ethernet networks that deliver dramatically better price/performance, flexibility and scalability. The BlueRiver platform delivers a single programmable system on chip (SoC), which can be used to replace traditional AV/KVM extenders, matrix switchers, video wall controllers and windowing processors with a simple network of transmitters, receivers and off-the-shelf Ethernet switches. BlueRiver chipsets are the foundation of SDVoE technology offering zero-latency, uncompressed 4K streaming over standard Ethernet with unique support for HDMI 2.0a and HDR. They also integrate high-fidelity video scaling, windowing and audio downmixing. For more information, visit https://www.semtech.com/technology/blueriver.
