SYKES Named on the Inaugural IAOP Impact Sourcing Champions Index

SYKES Named on the Inaugural IAOP Impact Sourcing Champions Index

Impact sourcing, or socially responsible business process outsourcing, is the practice of providing employment opportunities to communities that wouldn’t otherwise be able to access a global marketplace. By offering livable wages and professional development services to those on the bottom tier of the socioeconomic pyramid, companies can make a positive impact on their global communities — all while accessing previously underutilized talent. “Doing well by doing good is now more important than ever,” said Debi Hamill, IAOP’s CEO. “Ensuring that disadvantaged populations have access to formal employment and decent work, allowing them to improve their conditions, acquire a career, and thus lift themselves, their families, and their communities out of poverty, is one of the most sustainable means to economic growth.”

SYKES has been a leader in the impact sourcing space since the 1990s. Back then, the company’s founder John Sykes made the innovative decision to source talent and create centers of operation in smaller towns across the country — rather than established business hubs. Sometimes working in communities of less than 5,000 people, SYKES began impact sourcing before it became fashionable, and has helped millions of people find meaningful careers with a lifelong potential for growth no matter where they happen to be.

Today, Chuck Sykes has continued his father’s legacy of helping, “one caring interaction at a time” in communities over the world. SYKES has proven to be more than deserving of the IAOP Champion title, establishing programs like SYKES Academy, a free career-development platform; three “Prosperity Hubs” across the U.S., which promote professional and economic growth; and SYKES Women in Technology, a global gender-equity program supported by SYKES Latin America (LATAM).

SYKES has shown they share the IAOP’s vision of not just doing well — but “doing good” around the world. With SYKES Academy now operating internationally, and SYKES continuing to create Prosperity Hubs in the U.S. (in partnership with Intuit), they’ve solidified their reputation as a global job creator that values equity and sustainability. You can learn more about SYKES Prosperity Hubs and their innovative partnership with Intuit in a recent episode of OneTAKE Live, a SYKES production, in which Intuit’s Director of Global Partner Management, Balakarthik Venkataramanan, discusses how SYKES and Intuit are creating prosperity through giving work.

To be considered for the IAOP Impact Sourcing Champions Index, companies must show a sincere desire to positively affect their global communities through their impact sourcing efforts worldwide. According to the IAOP, “Companies are recognized for how they build impact sourcing into their employment and procurement strategies and how they have impacted communities.” Below, you can see the full 2020 Impact Sourcing Champions Index.
