VOYCE, Inc. today announced that it will donate up to 100,000 minutes of its language translation services – worth approximately $100,000 – to help hospitals and health care providers treat non-English-speaking COVID-19 patients more effectively. The donation will allow patients, physicians, and health care providers access and use of the VOYCE app, which features HIPAA-compliant on-demand translation services. The VOYCE app is currently being used by health care providers across the U.S., including Walgreens Pharmacy, Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Hoboken University Medical Center, Christ Hospital, Bayonne Medical Center, and many others.

“America’s frontline health care providers are facing numerous challenges during this unprecedented pandemic, but language barriers should not be one of them,” said VOYCE CEO Andrew Royce. “Our in-hand technology gives physicians, nurses, and other providers access to real-time, medically-trained interpreters via video or voice, giving them the ability to communicate critical medical information to patients.”

As health care systems across the country battle the COVID-19 pandemic, many providers are struggling to serve non-English-speaking patients, especially those who require the use of translation services, according to a recent ProPublica report.

VOYCE’s on-demand language translation services connect clients with interpreters remotely, eliminating the need for in-person translation during social distancing periods. VOYCE interpreters speak more than 220 languages and dialects including American Sign Language and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The app is available for smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.

“We know that the average length of these crucial medical conversations is approximately 10 minutes long, so we hope that this donation will enable thousands of discussions across hospitals, testing sites, and doctor’s offices and expand health care access across the United States, empowering health providers to give their patients the best treatment possible regardless of the language they speak,” Royce said.

Health care systems or providers seeking access to these VOYCE language translation services can email COVID19Response@voyceglobal.com.
