Pulsant deploys cloud solution at Scottish charity

Aberlour Child Care Trust enjoys more reliable operations through Opex model

Pulsant, the provider of hybrid cloud services, is supporting the operations of Scottish charity Aberlour Child Care Trust.

The cloud platform will be hosted in Pulsant’s data centre in Edinburgh and uses the latest HP servers, Cisco networking and VMware virtualisation technology, that are deployed on top of the company’s 10Gb network.

Scottish_Highlands ScotlandAs an organisation that delivers critical services and support, having access to data and core systems at all times is a vital requirement. The charity needed to update its legacy infrastructure at its head office, and was also looking to reduce costs and increase efficiency, as well as move to an Opex model.

In addition, Aberlour wanted to bolster its backup capabilities and reduce the complexity of its existing backup solution.

Ros Dowey, IT manager, Aberlour, said: “Our key systems at our head office in Stirling were on old hardware and we decided the best way forward, in terms of cost, security and resilience, would be to move to a hosted platform.

“In this way we could take advantage of significant cost savings by employing an Opex model, and also leverage the resources of a hosting partner in delivering a more secure and resilient platform than we could do ourselves on-site.”

Ian Appleyard, business development executive, Pulsant, said: “Pulsant has an excellent track record when it comes to helping charities reach their business outcomes, and this project is the ideal example of how there is no one-size-fits-all cloud solution.”
