Intelligent WANs and SDN to be targeted by expanding hybrid cloud provider

Hybrid cloud and managed service provider ANS has acquired Eison, an IT services provider that specialises in network solutions.

Eison, based in Manchester, was formed in 2006 and had a turnover of £7.5 million to the year ended 31 October 2015, with a recurring revenue base said to be around £5.3 million. The value of the acquisition has not been disclosed.

Eison designs, implements and supports complex network, data centre and mobility solutions for organisations with locations in the UK and around the world.

ManchesterScott Fletcher, chairman of ANS, said: “This acquisition will further underpin our hybrid cloud and data centre strategy allowing us to embrace the opportunities for intelligent WANs and software defined networking.

As user mobility and adoption of both public and private cloud platforms increases, it’s ever more important to understand the journey that data takes from the cloud all the way to the end user device.”

He said the acquisition gave ANS additional expertise to “ensure that our networking solutions are as innovative and robust as our data centre solutions”.

The combined businesses will see ANS turnover reach around £60 million with over 250 employees. Founders and directors at Eison, Jamie Coan and Richard Peck, will remain at the organisation.

Peck said: “ANS’ customer service focus and technical expertise means that our customers and staff can be safe in the knowledge that they will continue to be looked after. We look forward to working with the ANS team to ensure a successful integration of the businesses.”
